26 January Speech 2020 in English
(470 words 26 January Speech in English 2020)
Good morning everybody. My name is AK Sharma, I study in Class V as we all know that we have gathered here on a very special occasion of our country which is called Republic Day of India. I would like to tell you about a Republic Day speech.
First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to my teacher because it is because of that I have got such a wonderful opportunity in my school that I can speak about my beloved country on this great occasion of Republic Day.
India is a self-governing country since 15 August 1947. India gained independence from British rule on 15 August 1947 which we celebrate as Independence Day, however, since 1950 we celebrate 26 January as Republic Day. The Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, so we celebrate this day every year as Republic Day. In this year 2020, we are celebrating India’s 71th Republic Day.
Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only the public has the right to elect their representatives as political representatives to move the country in the right direction. So, India is a republic country where people choose their leaders as President, Prime Minister etc. Our great Indian freedom fighters have struggled a lot for “Purna Swaraj” in India. He did this so that his future generations could live without struggle and the country would move forward.
The names of our great Indian leaders and freedom fighters are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri etc. He fought relentlessly against British rule to make India an independent country. We can never forget his sacrifice for our country. We should remember and salute them on such great occasions. It is possible only because of them that we can think with our mind and live independently in our nation without any force.
What a shame to say that we are still fighting crime, corruption and violence (terrorists, rape, theft, riots, attacks, etc.) in our country. Again, there is a need to unite to save our country from such slavery as it is pulling our nation back from going into the mainstream of development and progress. We should know about our social issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, global warming, inequality etc. so that they can be resolved to move forward.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country has to become corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel that there are three major social members who can make a difference.” They are father, mother and teacher ”. As citizens of the country, we should think about it seriously and do everything possible to lead our nation.
Thank you, Jai Hind.
