Republic Day Speech for School Students

(480 words 26 January 2020 Speech in English)

Good morning to all of you My name is _____ and I study in ____ class / I am a teacher. As we all know, today we have gathered here on this special occasion, which we know as the Republic Day of India.

In this great day of today, I want to tell you all some important things about the Republic Day of India. I want to thank all of you guys for giving me this wonderful opportunity so that I can put some words about my beloved country on this great day in front of you.

Our country India has become self-governing since 15 August 1947. India got independence from the British government/rule on 15 August. But the constitution of our country came into force on 26 January 1950 and we consider that day as complete independence, so we celebrate this festival every year in happiness of our freedom.

This year 2020, we, Indians, are celebrating the 71st Republic Day of our country India today. Republic or Republic means the supreme power of the people, that is, people have the right to choose their political leader over the country. It was only after hard work and struggle of our great freedom fighters that India got full swaraj. They did a lot for us so that we do not have to bear that oppression and our country India can move forward.

Speech on Republic Day for Child (26 January)

Some of our great Indian freedom fighters and leaders are named Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri. He faced the British Government for many years continuously and got our homeland liberated. We can never forget this sacrifice of his, and he should always remember with great heart like a great celebration and ceremony, because of him we are able to breathe freely in our country today.

Our first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad who said, “We have got the authority of our entire great and vast country under one single constitution and union which takes responsibility for the welfare of 320 lakh men and women living in the country.”

It is a matter of shame that even after so many years of independence, today we are fighting crime, corruption and violence. Now we have to meet again to remove our country from these bad things and make a successful, developed and clean country. We have to understand things like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, global warming, inequality, etc. and find solutions for them as well.

Former President Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Ji had said that if the country is to be made corruption-free and people of great and good knowledge, then I think there are three things related to the society that can bring change. They are the mother, father, and teacher. As citizens of India, we should think to what extent we can make our country successful.
